Authentic Mexican Cuisine at a Hapjeong Hotspot – Ixchel Hapjeong Main Branch
[Seoul Restaurant] There are countless restaurants near Seoul’s Hapjeong Station, but very few places offer truly authentic Mexican and South American food.
The place I’m introducing today, Ixchel Hapjeong Main Branch, is quite special in that regard.

With a stylish interior that brings the vibe of Mexico and South America, Ixchel has already become a hotspot. Their hard shell tacos, homemade sauces, and menu adjusted for Korean palates have all contributed to its growing reputation.
From Hard Shell Tacos to Homemade Sauces – Mexican Cuisine Made for Korean Tastes
The biggest highlight of Ixchel is, without a doubt, their “hard shell tacos.”
While soft tacos are more mainstream these days, this place preserves the authentic texture of Mexican cuisine with crunchy, flavorful hard shells.

One bite into the taco, and the nutty richness fills your mouth, blending beautifully with fresh veggies, meat, and sauces—pure harmony.
Their homemade sauces elevate the experience even more.
You can truly taste the freshness and depth that you won’t find in store-bought alternatives.
And best of all? Nachos and sauce are served complimentary—the perfect starter.

“Birria Tacos”
The sauce was fantastic, although the taco felt a bit heavy. If you love meat, you’ll definitely enjoy this one.

“Salmon Tostada”
Highly recommend this one! The homemade sauce is incredible, and the salmon pairs beautifully with the crunchy shell. 😊

“Grapefruit Ade”
Honestly… it was just okay. A safe, neutral drink.

“Complimentary Nachos”
The nacho sauce was so good~!! 😋

“Mexican Caesar Salad”
Clean, fresh, and satisfying. You can even add cilantro!
I personally love cilantro, so I was thrilled. 😄

Stylish Interior & Great for a Lunch Spot Near Hangang
We visited on a weekend afternoon, and the place was already packed with families and couples.
And here’s another tip!
If you’re coming back from a walk along the Han River, it’s just a short walk to Hapjeong—super accessible.
Located just 3 minutes from Hapjeong Station, it’s perfect for dates, friend meetups, or even solo dining.

Parking Info
You can park at the nearby Yanghwajin public parking lot.
It’s not as pricey as you’d expect, and since it’s right by the Han River, it’s also a great post-meal walking spot. 🌿
Reservation Recommended! A Popular Spot During Peak Hours
Rather than calling it a downside, here’s a pro tip:
It gets really crowded during peak hours, especially on Friday evenings and weekend afternoons—expect long wait times.
Luckily, you can make reservations via catchtable, so we highly recommend doing that in advance!
