If you’re exploring Calgary restaurant and craving Thai cuisine, you’ve probably come across “Auttarote Thai Cuisine.”
With an impressive Google rating of 4.7, I went in with high expectations for lunch.
But is it truly deserving of the title “best Thai restaurant in Calgary”? Let me give you my honest and candid review.

🍽 Ambience: Feels Like a High-End Calgary Restaurant
The first thing that caught my eye as I stepped inside was the exotic interior and calm, upscale restaurant vibe.
The dark wood furniture combined with Thai-inspired decor pieces created a harmonious, cozy setting.
I was genuinely impressed by the atmosphere.
Even during lunch hour, it was relatively quiet — making it a good spot for a peaceful meal with friends or a casual date.

🥘 Lunch Menu: Underwhelming Despite the Hype
I ordered the Lunch Special — Green Curry and Pad Thai (with tofu and pork add-on).
The Google reviews were glowing, and I was happy to see a lunch special on the menu. But…
The green curry had a very mild flavor and the sauce was too watery.
I couldn’t help but wonder, “Is this how it’s supposed to be? Or did I just get a bad batch?”
The Pad Thai tasted just average. With the pork add-on, the total for that dish alone came to CAD 18.95.

In the end, our total bill was around CAD 45.00, which felt a bit pricey for a two-person lunch.
Also, just a heads-up — the minimum tip option starts at 18%, so keep that in mind when budgeting.
🤔 Final Verdict: Would I Return? Not So Sure
Maybe I expected too much because of the stellar reviews.
I’ve had much more satisfying Thai food elsewhere in Calgary, so this visit left me feeling a bit disappointed.
Of course, everyone’s taste is different — but in my opinion, that 4.7 Google rating feels a little too generous.
